HEcoPerMed Modeling Case Studies for Validation of Methodological Guidance
This method tests how well a set of recommendations for economic evaluations in personalized medicine works in real-world examples. Three different disease models were used to check which recommendations were most important and how they affect decisions.
At a glance
Use when
Developing or evaluating economic models for personalized medicine interventions; validating methodological guidance; improving transparency in model design and decision justification
Avoid when
When guidance recommendations are not available or applicable; when models lack sufficient documentation to trace recommendation impact
Inputs
Health economic models in personalized medicine; HEcoPerMed methodological guidance (23 recommendations)
Outputs
Assessment of guidance applicability; identification of critical recommendations; lessons on implementation challenges and decision justification
How it works
A validation framework developed within the HEcoPerMed project to assess the applicability and impact of its methodological guidance for economic evaluations in personalized medicine. The guidance was tested across three health economic modeling case studies in different therapeutic areas. Twenty out of twenty-three recommendations were implemented, with varying levels of adoption across studies. The framework identifies which recommendations critically influence model outcomes and supports structured decision justification in economic analyses of personalized interventions.
